The arduino software running under my ubuntu seemed to not allow me to enter single quotes (‘) or double quotes (“) with my keyboard layout of choice (US, international with dead keys).
Some thread at ubuntuforums.org had a solution for me: Use the right Alt-Key (Alt Gr on my GermanAustrian keyboard).
Update: clusterssh behaves the same.
